At the heart of the TRUbranding process—Dive, Workshop, and Roadmap—is our belief that truth emerges through shared dialogue. Graphic recording helps us capture that truth as it unfolds.
Graphic recorders, also known as scribes, are visual listeners trained to distill real-time conversations into powerful images. During TRUbrand workshops, a graphic recorder draws what’s said, felt, and discovered—transforming abstract ideas into a living, visual map of your brand’s purpose and direction.
example of Graphic Recording by Carrie Frickman
Used at leading forums like the World Economic Forum at Davos, graphic recording is recognized globally for its ability to deepen engagement, foster alignment, and catalyze co-creation. In fact, I met a graphic recorder once at the World Economic Forum and it turned out that she lived in the next town! She started to work with me at TRU2U and opened my eyes to the work of The Value Web, which pioneered visual facilitation for global systems change, saying that the practice “helps groups see complexity, unlock insight, and make sense together.” She and I worked together for a number of years on brands with complex issues and challenges.
Another valuable reason we use graphic recording is that it supports multiple learning styles, helping your entire team absorb and engage in your brand story as it unfolds in front of you, warts and all. Because some of us are more visual learners than others, taking the workshop into a room designed for all kinds of learning, means that new leaders can emerge and new learning styles can be explored. This helps everyone to participate when their style is verbal, experiential, or process-driven. Graphic recording brings these together in real time—making the invisible visible, so the thinking sticks and the “aha” moments are shared.
Our graphic recorders are attuned to every voice in the room and our exercises play to everyone’s strengths. Our scribes don’t just draw what’s obvious—they reveal what’s essential: the patterns, the pivots, the emerging truths. The result is a shared visual narrative that reflects where your brand has been, where it's going, and what it stands for.
This isn’t about decoration (though our boards are gorgeous!)—it’s about transformation. By making strategy visible, we help teams align, engage, and move forward with purpose.
